The Practical Missions Podcast

Pod #109 Messy Missionaries Are The Best Kind

Preparing to go to the field with three kids under three years old.

Today on the Pod, my guest and his wife, along with their three young children, share how they prepared to leave the comfort of their home, careers, family, friends, church, and community to venture into the unknown of cross-cultural kingdom work.

I love how my guest and his wife are already reaching out to the unreached in their community and practicing hospitality to sojourners among them. My guest’s overarching desire is to burn with passion for Jesus and let other people watch him burn! You never know the impact you will have on others as you follow God’s purposes for your life.

We need to practice hospitality in our sharing of the gospel. That’s what the Lord does for us, right? He prepares a table for us in the midst of our enemies. He breaks bread and wine with us so that we might commune with him. We should share that and take it out into the world, especially with those who are in our place, where we feel comfortable and at home. We can share that with those who feel displaced, feel very out of place, and nervous.

Pod #49 How NOT to turn Your Ministry into a Project

I talk to a man who loves his family, loves the ministry, and loves God. It’s clear he has not lost sight of the reason we serve on the field. We talk about family, hospitality, team life, discipling locals, dealing with local needs, and much more.
